The first Friday class at the new location has officially been a success!! LEVEL UP!!Our new classroom is constantly developing, and we are very, very lucky to have the room currently stocked as well as it is! We now have a couch, a computer desk, 3 event tables, a drafting table, and TWO computers in our new room! (Immense thanks to Kirk, Diane and Nate for your donations!!) We are now on the search for another computer desk, printers, scanners, a personal xerox and a digital projector. So, friends, students and parents, if you see any deals, or have any of the above items lying around, we at Megamoth Studio would always love your help. (Also, if you have any art supplies or old manga/comics/shounen jumps to donate, we would love that too!)
I have another very important update: as of Friday, September 10, Friday class sessions will run from 4pm-6pm. Students from the high schools across the street will be welcome to hang around the classroom until the beginning of class if they arrive early. I am hoping the later start time will help commuters avoid the Rancho Cotate traffic and have a little extra time to get to class from Santa Rosa. We would prefer if all students arrive at the same time, since we are now implementing a new class structure.
As I have mentioned before, Storm Williams and Chelsea Harper will be running Friday classes next week and the week after. All other classes are suspended since Brett and I will be out of the country. If you are currently interested in enrolling, I suggest you wait until after September 25th. However, I will have access to email all this week (and hopefully a little while I am traveling), so please don't hesitate to email me with any questions!
One final thing: Alternative Press Expo is just about a month away!! We will be looking for inked (NO color or marker) drawings, sketches and comic pages for the A.P.E. anthology. It's coming up sooner than we ALL think!! *wince*
Here's to an awesome month!!

We are slowly but surely stocking the new classroom, and I have sent out a email blast with all the basic info to all students and parents I have on my list. So please, if you haven't gotten the email and would like more details, please email me!The email also includes information about my vacation time and the next Summer Nights exhibition on September 3rd, which is also the same day we start classes in the new space.
Stay tuned for more updates! Hope everyone's first week of school went well!!

August 15th, 2010.
Wow!! So much going on for Megamoth Studio these days. The teachers, myself and a Mr. Brett Grunig, enjoyed our Comic Con experience thoroughly. Since then, we have enjoyed another Summer Nights exhibition, and a class outing to see the new movie, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World! But no time for that, I have a very big, special announcement to make for the class!!
Megamoth Studio's original class location, S.A.G. Studio, will be MOVING! At the beginning of September, we will have our very own classroom!! It will be several times the size of our original classroom, and we will be stocking it with our very own materials. There are a lot of plans in the works, but I will be collecting and sending email updates on the new classroom status. As of now, we are officially beginning Friday classes at the new location on Friday, September 3rd. (NOTE! The Tuesday- Wednesday-Thursday classes will NOT be moving to any new locations until further notice!)
Also, on September 3rd, we will have our final exhibition at Santa Rosa's Summer Nights event. So come by and visit us at Cellars of Sonoma in Railroad Square, and check out our fine wares! Also, students, make sure to bring any and all prints, comics and crafts you'd like to sell!
Other than that, there are a LOT of new updates around the site, so please feel free to explore! We are still updating, so stay tuned until next time!

FANIME! It was awesome! Now that I have had (what, a month? gah!) some recovery time, we at Megamoth Studio are back on track for summer events. There is a lot of stuff coming up, and here is an overview!1. Those of you in class have been working on the 2-Hour Comic project, and I am really excited for how a lot of these comics have turned out! The finished comics will soon be uploaded to the galleries, and also the DeviantArt Group. Everyone has been doing an awesome job with them, and there will be a LOT more student galleries up, since we have a LOT more new faces in class!! (Really excited about THAT too.)
2. This weekend (I apologize for the relatively short notice) we will be exhibiting at Santa Rosa's Summer Nights event. This event is held every first friday of the month from now until September. We will be exhibiting in August and September as well. Come find us at Cellars of Sonoma in Railroad Square!
3. Saturday, July 10 is the date of our next anime marathon. This time it's gonna be TRIGUN! Love and Peace!
4. The week of July 12-16 I will be teaching a special week-long comics class at the Charles M. Schulz Museum! There may still be room, so please contact the museum for details!
5. Last but not least, my fellow instructor, Brett Grunig, and I will be at San Diego Comic Con from July 22 to 25. During these dates, there likely will not be Wednesday and Thursday classes, but Friday class will likely still be on. We will not be exhibiting, but I am looking forward to finding some friends, both new and old, among the crowd!
Other than that, there are many plans for Megamoth Studio, so stay tuned!!

Just make sure a signed form is with you at Fanime, especially when you are at the table. Thanks and see you Sunday!!-ECM
May 19th, 2010.
FINAL FANIME MEETINGSUNDAY, MAY 23, 2PM - 6PM
AT MY HOUSE!!
This is when all ride, hotel, table, and commission plans will be finalized! It will also be the last day to turn in work for the anthology!!
Anyone who has a scanner and photoshop, gimp or any image editing program, please bring or email us image files at least 300 dpi (or 300 pixels per inch) by the time of the meeting. If we do not get your image by then, we cannot put it in the anthology.
If you have absolutely no way to scan the work, please let us know, and we can give you access to our scanner during the meeting.
On Sunday we will also be finalizing the Megamoth Studio cosplay. PLEASE BRING YOUR COSTUME AS IT IS TO THE MEETING. I will provide paints, iron on transfers and other means to apply the moths to your costume. PLEASE, let me know beforehand how you would like to apply the moth design, so I can help you quickly and efficiently.
Also, if you have anything like cards or crafts ready by Sunday, please bring them as well.
On Friday, May 21st, I will be sending out an email with a consent form for ride sharing, room sharing and money handing at the table that I will need parents/guardians to sign. Please bring that on Sunday if possible, if not, then bringing it to the convention with you would also be acceptable.
PLEASE COMMENT, EMAIL, NOTE, CALL, OR TEXT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS! SEE YOU SUNDAY!!

May 11th, 2010.
Hey everyone! Just a few weeks left for Fanime... do you have everything you need?If not, then LET ME KNOW :D We are here to help!!!
There are a few items on the agenda I wanted to cover:
1: We finally got our table numbers for Fanime!! Megamoth Studio will be at Tables 292, 293, and 294. Our tables will be right next to the pika pika booths, on the left hand side of the Exhibit Hall. Check us out if you're in line for pika pika!
2: There is another mini commission workshop tomorrow at Riley Street from 4pm to 6 pm. If this is too short notice, note me, comment, email, text or call one of the teachers, and we can set up another time to meet.
3: I drew up a reference sheet for the cosplay style. I have uploaded it here. It also is on the class group gallery, in the folder "Fanime Projects." For the gang cosplay, I have several pleated skirts I am happy to lend out. Also, I have noticed that the jackets are increasingly difficult to find. If you can't find a jacket in time, it's okay to go without one. I know a lot of you already have the equipment for this costume, so the only remaining task is to add the moth designs. Please let me know if you want to design your own moth or whether you want to use my design. I will be helping you apply the designs on the final Fanime meeting, Sunday May 23rd.
4: Coming up this weekend is a Tae Kwon Do Board-Break-a-thon, over at Segal's ATA Tae Kwon Do Studio. This is a FREE Tae Kwon Do class on how to break boards. (Or, better yet, how to defend yourself in the highly unlikely event that you are harassed at say, a Convention ;D) Anyway, all students are invited!!. There are two sessions on Saturday, May 15th--one at 1:30pm, the other at 4:30pm. Contact me for details.
In the meantime, I want everyone to make sure their character refs are in for Kelly Lawrences's cover illustration, and follow Storm William's example and post your in progress Fanime work!! There is still time to get a lot done! Here's to an AWESOME Con!!

April 19th, 2010.
A lot has been happening at Megamoth Studio, and there is a lot to look forward to! Since we have a lot of announcements regarding the class, keep your eye on this page as we will be posting class announcements from the Facebook page and the class page on Deviant Art. Here is what we went over last meeting:-The class meeting schedule has changed. There will only be TWO really important meetings between now and Fanime:
Firstly, the COMMISSION WORKSHOP is on SUNDAY, MAY 2, at 2pm at my house.
As either a student or TA, it is imperative that you come to this meeting if they have experience doing commissions at Cons or on Deviant Art, if you want to do commissions at Fanime, or if you are simply interested in doing commissions some time in your life. If for whatever reason it is impossible for you to make it to the workshop on that day, touch base with us and we will try to give you a crash course in commissioning. If you want to do commissions at Fanime and you do not touch base with us, we will not be able to give you a commission time slot at the table.
Secondly, the DUE DATE for WORK and FINAL MEETING BEFORE FANIME is on SUNDAY, MAY 23, at 2pm at my house.
At this meeting, we will finalize ride situations, art work, and all plans for Fanime and the table. All art work for Anthology III, scanned, cleaned up, and ready to print, NEEDS TO BE TURNED IN MY THIS DAY at 6pm. We also need all the crafts, comics, prints, and anything else for the table to us by this day, or else delivered to us upon arrival at the convention. There is a lot of work to be done and fun to be had, so stay tuned! For more info, stay tuned to the Megamoth-Class page!
